Description
A Vario replacement cartridge is a multi-stage filter for the Katadyn Vario water filter that removes bacteria, protozoa and improves taste and odor. It features a pleated fiberglass filter and activated carbon, has a 0.2 micron pore size, and comes with two O-rings and silicone lubricant for maintenance. It is easy to replace and can be used in a "faster flow" or "longer life" mode, with the latter recommended to extend the filter's life.

Usage and maintenance
  • Modes: 
    The filter has two settings, "FASTER FLOW" or "LONGER LIFE," which can be selected by turning the ceramic prefilter unit. 
     
  • Replacement: 
    Replace the cartridge when the filter begins to pump slower, or when you notice a change in taste or odor. 
     
  • Activated carbon lifespan: 
    The activated carbon has a normal effective lifespan of about 50 gallons (200 liters), but this can be reduced by high chemical or odor concentrations. 
     
  • Ease of use: 
    It is designed for quick and simple installation, requiring no special tools. 
     
  • Initial setup: 
    A new cartridge is pre-filled with activated carbon. After installation, pump and discard the first liter of water to flush the cartridge.
